Ingredients
- 1.5 pounds sirloin steak
- 1.5 pounds broccoli
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 4 cloves garlic
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon cooking oil
Cooking instructions
- Pat the steak dry and cut it into 1-inch pieces. Trim the broccoli into bite-size florets, mince the garlic, and season the steak with the black pepper. (about 10 min)
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the oil, then arrange the steak in a single layer. Sear for 2 to 3 minutes per side, working in batches if needed, until browned and the thickest pieces reach at least 145°F (63°C). Transfer the steak to a plate and rest for 3 minutes. (about 6 min) — Medium-high heat
- Add the broccoli and 2 tablespoons of water to the skillet. Cook, stirring occasionally, for 4 to 5 minutes until bright green and crisp-tender. (about 5 min) — Medium-high heat
- Reduce the heat to medium. Add the butter and garlic and cook for 30 seconds, stirring constantly. Pour in the soy sauce and stir until combined. (about 1 min) — Medium heat
- Return the steak and any collected juices to the skillet. Toss for 1 to 2 minutes until the steak and broccoli are coated in the glossy sauce and heated through. Serve immediately. (about 2 min) — Medium heat
