Prep: 20 min · Cook: 55 min · Yield: 6 · Method: Oven
Ingredients
- 1.5 pounds ground turkey
- 1 medium apple
- 0.75 cup old-fashioned oats
- 1 large egg
- 0.5 medium yellow onion
- 2 tablespoons dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
- 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder
- 0.25 cup ketchup
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
Cooking instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F. Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease a 9-by-5-inch loaf pan. (about 5 min) — 375°F
- Peel and grate the apple. Finely chop the onion. If the apple is very juicy, gently squeeze out a little excess liquid. (about 10 min)
- In a small bowl, whisk together the ketchup, brown sugar, and apple cider vinegar for the glaze. (about 2 min)
- In a large bowl, combine the ground turkey, grated apple, onion, oats, egg, 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Mix gently with clean hands just until evenly combined. (about 3 min)
- Shape the mixture into a 9-by-5-inch loaf on the prepared baking sheet, or press it evenly into the loaf pan. Spread the glaze over the top. (about 5 min)
- Bake until the center reaches 165°F on an instant-read thermometer, 50 to 60 minutes. If the top browns too quickly, loosely cover it with foil. (about 55 min) — 375°F
- Rest the meatloaf for 10 minutes before slicing. Serve warm. (about 10 min)
