Ingredients
- 16 ounces extra-firm tofu
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 2 cloves garlic
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon maple syrup
- 1 tablespoon neutral cooking oil
- 2 scallions scallions
- 1 teaspoon sesame seeds
Cooking instructions
- Drain the tofu and wrap it in a clean kitchen towel or several paper towels. Place a plate or skillet on top and press for 10 minutes to remove excess moisture. (about 10 min)
- Cut the pressed tofu into 1-inch cubes. Toss the cubes with the neutral oil, then sprinkle with the cornstarch and toss gently until evenly coated. (about 3 min)
- Preheat the air fryer to 400°F for 3 minutes. Arrange the tofu in a single layer, leaving space between pieces. Air-fry for 12 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through. (about 12 min) — 400°F
- While the tofu cooks, whisk the soy sauce, sesame oil, rice vinegar, maple syrup, and minced garlic in a small bowl. (about 2 min)
- Pour the glaze over the hot tofu and toss gently. Return the tofu to the air fryer and cook for 3 to 5 minutes, shaking once, until the edges are crisp and the glaze is glossy. (about 5 min) — 400°F
- Transfer to a serving bowl and garnish with sliced scallions and sesame seeds. Serve immediately. (about 1 min)
