Prep: 20 min · Cook: 15 min · Yield: 4 · Method: Stovetop
Ingredients
- 1.5 lb ground beef
- 1 tbsp fish sauce
- 2 tsp smoked paprika
- 0.5 tsp black pepper
- 4 count hamburger buns
- 0.25 cup mayonnaise
- 1 tbsp lime juice
- 1 cup carrots
- 4 count scallions
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
Cooking instructions
- In a medium bowl, combine the mayonnaise, lime juice, and shredded carrots; toss well and set aside.
- In a separate bowl, gently combine the ground beef, fish sauce, smoked paprika, and black pepper until just mixed; shape into four equal patties.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat. Thinly slice the white and green parts of the scallions. Add to the hot oil and cook for 1 minute until fragrant and lightly charred; remove the scallions from the pan with a slotted spoon and set aside. (about 1 min)
- Place the beef patties in the hot skillet. Sear for 4 minutes on the first side, then flip and cook for another 3 to 4 minutes until an internal temperature of 160°F is reached. (about 8 min)
- Toast the buns in the skillet for 1 minute if desired. Assemble by layering the patty, carrot slaw, and the reserved charred scallions onto the buns. (about 1 min)
